Glucose meter finger prick to determine gestational diabetes?
I know that the gestazionale diabetes glucose tolerance test is very inconvenient for those who are preganant. With diabetes type 1, if requested, would be reasonable (possible) simply do skin a finger with a blood glucose meter instead?
This would be faster and less expensive and more comfortable. Of course, is extremely accurate for those who depend on accurate readings for a sliding scale for dose of insulin.
With all due respect, I agree with you that the gestazionale test diabetes is very important. However, I do not believe that the test of time from 1 to 3 is more accurate counter (although are open to any other form of learning). It seems only kill the butterfly with a hammer, for example, the test overkill-una very difficult for MOM pending when available also a need to read which is far less intrusive and difficult.
Thanks or “stupid Nilly – is exactly what that I thought too.” Meter tests for exactly the same thing that the test of time 1 and 3 (gestazionale diabetes may be different from the type 1 or type 2, but the test is in search of what similar) and waiting for 3 hours of testing to see if the counter indicates high levels of glucose (although there is surprising yet perhaps unduly 1 now and 3 hours of test is always necessario-si not necessary to diagnose type 1 or type 2 diabetes)

well yes afterwards.they will still have to do the 1 hour and 3 hour test to get a more accurate reading.i went through this thankfully i didnt need insulin.i had to control by diet.i have to prick my finger 3 times a day to keep an eye on my glucose reading and document it for dr.
thats what i figured i would do…..cuz my moms is also a type 1 and she has all the supplies, but its not a finger prick they do….its a blood test, idk why…i didnt ask cuz i was just like whatever i’ll do it.
i can tell you it will more than likely suck really bad for you, if my mom drank a thing with 50glucose she would be bugging for that whole hour! he sugar would sky rocket!!!
but you gotta go and take the test….sorry.
I was almost a gestational diabetic during each of my two pregnancies, and had many tests to keep an eye on it. It’s not much fun but it’s necessary. I was diagnosed with Type II 3 years ago, long after my kids were born.
Glucose meters are an accurate way for a Type I or II diabetic to test glucose, but gestational diabetes and regular diabetes are two different things. I think it’s best to stick with the tests a woman’s doctor recommends during her pregnancy, to determine whether or not she is a gestational diabetic. It’s nothing to mess around with.
Personally, I didn’t think the gestational diabetes test was uncomfortable at all! The “hardest” part was fasting for 9 hours. All they do is have you fast, take a blood sample from your arm for a “before” sugar level, have a drink that tastes like Kool Aid, wait an hour, then draw blood from your arm again. I FAR prefer blood being taken from my arm than my finger because it hurts less.
